About SkINDP

For Patients. By Patients
Skin Images and Nomenclature in Diverse Populations (SkIN DP, “skin deep”) is a project inspired by
patients and designed with patient priorities at the forefront.

Dermatological (skin, hair and nail) conditions affect everyone irrespective of skin colour or ethnicity.
Unfortunately, resources to support patient education and awareness are not always representative of
the global populaton.

SkIN DP aims to explore the perspective of dermatological conditions and improve the representation
and education of them patients of all skin types and backgrounds, through international partnerships
and collaboration.

Our Mission

Our mission is to represent, educate, and empower individuals affected by dermatological conditions across all skin tones and ethnicities. Through innovative research, patient-centred approaches, and global collaboration, we strive to create resources and awareness that reflect the diversity of the global population.

Our Vision

We envision a world where dermatological resources and education are inclusive, accessible, and representative of all skin types, enabling better outcomes for patients worldwide.

Why We Exist

Historically, dermatological resources have often lacked representation of diverse skin tones, leading to gaps in understanding and treatment. SkIN DP was created to address these challenges by:

  • Improving Representation: Ensuring resources reflect the experiences of individuals from all ethnicities and backgrounds.
  • Enhancing Education: Providing inclusive materials for patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Fostering Collaboration: Partnering with global organizations to create meaningful change in dermatology.
